The Mikkeli Music Festival, the festival of the year 2023, is a classical music festival taking place in the hear of Lake Saimaa and offering high quality international classical music experiences. Since 1992, the festival has annually hosted concerts in late June and early August at the Mikaeli Concert and Congress Hall, as well as in Mikkeli’s churches and other venues. Each year, the festival showcases both magnificent, familiar classical compositions and fresh, contemporary works performed by top orchestras and soloists. In addition to ticketed events, the festival offers free concerts for music enthusiasts. The Mikkeli Music Festival has joined a four-year collaboration with the world-renowned Philharmonia Orchestra from London spanning the years 2023 to 2026, during which the Philharmonia will perform four concerts annually at the festival. Notably, the orchestra’s musicians also perform as soloists during these concerts. The orchestra’s concerts will be conducted by Chief Conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali along with changing guest conductors, including Mikkeli Music Festival’s Artistic Director, Erkki Lasonpalo.
